Autumn Equinox Contest!! Your Favorite Paranormal Creatures
CONTEST WINNERS!!!
Thanks so much to everyone who left a comment. I just wrote everyone's name on little pieces of paper and selected two.
Congratulations to:
Aimee Beckmann
and
Jennah Sharpe
In honor of the Fall Equinox, the dazzling colors of the turning leaves, and the first snow up in the Colorado mountains, I'm holding a contest!
What is your favorite paranormal creature? A blood-crazed vampire? An erotic vampire? A wereanimal? A ghost? A faerie? An elf? A shapeshifter? Something else? (And, by the way, what's the difference between a shapeshifter and a wereanimal? Curious minds want to know!)
Leave a comment here, telling me your favorite paranormal creature, and why -- and perhaps even tell us which character in which book really rings your chimes -- and I'll write all the names of the comment-leavers on pieces of paper and will pick two winners out of a hat on Saturday, September 30 at 8 p.m. Mountain Time.
Winners can choose between a $10 gift certificate from The Wild Rose Press (www.thewildrosepress.com) or the Guided Hypnotherapy CD of your choice from the line of CDs I created. You can take a peek at the CDs at www.lyndahilburn.com.

I love shapeshifters.
They can be something else and remind us that we can be anything too, anything we want to be.
It's all in the transformation, and the search for who we really are.
I'm a vampire gal!! Give me an erotic vampire with a thirst for my blood anyday :)
Why? It is such a sexy concept to be "craved" by another.
Well I have to say im a big fan of demons. I like certain shifters, like snakeweres, Unicorns, dragons.... im not a fan of wolves, they have been done to death.
I love demons though,my own, others, Ice demons and succubus are my favorite.
and i LOVE Fallen....
Vampires! It's a neck/throat thing. I love a man's strong, corded throat and the hollow beneath his Adam's apple.
But more than that I love the idea of someone standing close behind me, and the feel of breath against my neck as my hair is brushed to the side by long fingers, the carress of lips beneath my ear, and the anticipation of that first startling contact of teeth--
Um... :) Yeah, vampires get my vote.
Ah! Such marvelous answers, everyone! I think it's getting a little warm in here . . .
Gotta be ghosts! The heroine makes the ghostly hero pulse with new vitality!! Yep. Ghosts. (hmmm, could be because I love to write about ghosts?) :)
Gotta be either a werewolf especially or anyother shapeshifter and vampires. They can be scary but they're also alpha and can become something else
I am a vampire girl :-) I love those blood thirsty ones :-) It's probably because I always watch Buffy the vampire slayer and always wanted to read a book with a vampire so when I did I fell in love with it :-)
Hugssss

Ya know what? As long as he's an alpha, I don't care. Okay, well...maybe I do. I don't like vampires. Shapeshifters can be really hot.
Jennah
Werewolves and other shapeshifters. Though esp. werewolvs and werefelines of all kinds. Before is he hot, I've always like shapeshifters. Something about the animal in a human being, making them dangerous, untamable, unpredictiable. So if you get a man like that, nd he's a werewolf or a werepanther or werelion, tiger, etc... that hint of the beast underneath his skin, waiting to claw its way out can be a tantalizing thing, alomost like a drug, but more naturally.
The werewolf is my favorite, especially those tied to the moon. Maybe it makes them more like women, who I feel are in tune with the lunar cycle as well. And of course there's that whole alpha male thing that just makes you shiver. *grins* But any man who can relate to how I change into a ravenous beast at the drop of a hat, is the man for me.
Hmmm. Sounds like we all love those hot, otherworldly males -- whether they show up with cold, alabaster skin, etheric energy, a little naughty brimstone or fur. . .
Jean-Claude! I couldn't agree more. I remember reading "Guilty Pleasures" over and over again just for the scenes with JC. In fact, I've read a lot of LKH's books that way. Something about the scene where JC walked Anita down to where the Evil Master waited. He kissed her in the shadowy darkness of the the amost-deserted street (using one of his clever excuses)and gave her a blast of his power. I had to put the book down and excuse myself for a few moments. The fantasies I've had about that gorgeous vamp.

I love the vamps the most. They are just too sexy and the obsessive all consuming attitude is very hot. Spike from Buffy is my favorite vamp of all time. Although Jean Claude and Asher from LKH's Anita Blake series are extremely HOT too.
Its hard to pick one from the exciting preternatural crowd. I think I am in a toss up between vampires and werewolves. Vampires are graceful, silent partners, able to go from docile to dangerous in zero seconds and that danger part is a turn on. The threat of a bite to the neck is a lure, with that erratic pulse that flutters so insistently, begging for attention. A thin line between pleasure and pain we surrender to almost against our will. Werewolves are more brute force and all nature. The taming of a wild beast. To look into intelligent eyes and know there are thoughts turning there that have dominance and survival ingrained from thousands of years of evolution. For vampires Laurell K Hamilton’s Jean Claude and Asher comes to mind along with Eric the Viking vamp in Charlaine Harris’s southern vampire series. For werewolves Jason and Richard in Laurell K Hamilton’s series and Clay in Kelly Armstrong’s werewolf series. ~April

I love werewolves and werecats (panthers, domestic cats, leopards, etc.) most. I don't consider elves, fairies, etc., "paranormal" characters, even though a lot of publishers categorize them that way. Those are fantasy or magickal, IMO. Anyway, I love the raw animalistic lust in the erotic romances about werewolves and werecats. I love just about all paranormal-type characters. Witches are high on my list, too. Love magick! And, of course, I love vampires, too. But weres are my favorite. :)
Give me an incubbus, a sexy vampire, or a weretiger. *purrs* Hehehe!
I totally love shifters! And Vampires! I love the paranoramal range all together, but right now, I'm a vamp slut... Can't get enough Feehan or Ward. Carpathian all the way! LOL
I'm a total werewolf junkie. I also love shapeshifters, demons, and vampires, but werewolves hold a special place in my heart. I think it's something about an animalistic need to be with another person (a bonded commitment maybe?) that draws me.
However as for favorite paranormal character, that would be Lucien, from Christine Feehan's Dark Series.
So many awesome insights! I'm so happy you all showed up to play in my contest!
I love VAMPS! Vampires are so passionate and their love is everlasting. Who wouldn't want a love that lasts throughout eternity?
Shapeshifters. It's the tantalising allure of being the one to tame the unfathomable beast and man, of being the focus of their all-consuming passion and the sense of security in knowing they defend what's theirs. Emma Holly's Upyrs are one classic example.
Another Vampire girl. It's definately a throat thing.
I love them all - vamps, weres and shapeshifters. Especially love LKH's Jean-Claude, Asher, Richard, Micah, and Nathaniel. Can't get enough of these guys! LOL I really like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters too. The weres in Kelley Armstrong's books, Jeremy and Clay, are strong alpha males. Clay is unpredictable. I guess that's why I like him so much. :)
I'm a paranormal slut! But I have a thing for tall, gorgeous, bloodsucking vampires. Just being desperately needed is sexually thrilling!!!!
I LOVE DRAGONS!
Okay, so maybe they're fantasy critters instead of paranormal, but dragons are still my all-time favorites. (And of course, in my new series based on Sorcha's Heart, they're also shapeshifters! Oh joy!)
Debbie: At a recent writers event I attended in Denver, Carol Burg (well-known fantasy author) said, "All fiction is fantasy." Couldn't argue with that!
This is such a hard question.
Weres/shifters-the primal, sexual, "scent"-ual Alpha who senses his mate and cant be distracted.
The Vampire-the immortal kings of ennui lol-who have seen it all and done it all-until they've had a taste of your blood, and then they need you
The Fae being-otherwordly and fascinating, enchanting you with their abilities and stamina :}
Its hard-but I must admit-I have a thing for the growling predator.
I hope our fascination with hunky otherworldly guys continues, because I love writing/reading paranormals!
I'm partial to werewolves and demons. Feral, sexy, alpha males--what's not to love lol?
You are aksing me to pick a favorite paranormal creature??!
I am not sure I can do that. I am not sure if I even have a favorite. And I do believe the evil vampire should stay evil. But it's the characteristics that really drive me to like the character. The alpha male, the strenght, the fire, the bloodlust, that borders on pleasure and pain.
Hmmm...I have a thing for dragons right now.The dragon is a symbol of knowledge and power. It lives in fire and loves to eat virgins....There is something erotic about that. Vampires have been done a lot lately, but I still ove them. I will also read anything with weres, selkies, fairies and sprites in it.
i would have to say shapeshifters and were-creatures plus dragons,
1 shapeshifters cause i would luv to be one plus they can change at any time any where!
2 weretigers/wolves cause the sense of danger at full moon and tigers are 1 of my faves, they are graceful but deadly. wolves are the coolest canine eva suvivors plus they KNOW not to cheat, EVA!!
3 dragons cause they are powerful but wise and they are certainly diffrant!!
note: shapeshifters change into anything and anytime plus not stck to the lunar cycle!!
