I Appreciate the Good Things

My friend told me today that my local Borders Books has had a display of THE VAMPIRE SHRINK up near the cash register through the xmas holiday. I just had to drive over and take a photo. I so appreciate when good things happen. I'll be signing in that store on January 26 at 2 p.m.

Lynda,

I just finished reading "Vampire Shrink". It was fantastic! I loved the dark humor in it (I giggled through out) and the characters were amazing! I read it in one sitting. I really hope that you write another book with Dr. Knight and Deveraux. Anyway, now I have a new author to read!

Lynda,

Your welcome:). I felt I had to say something. I will definetly be looking out for the new book in October. I just have one question as an ameture writer. When you write your books did you have them already mapped out in a plot line or did you write the story as it came to you? I've written lots of short stories before and they're usually short enough that I don't need the plot line but I want to see if I can write a novel just for the heck of it and I know you have to put in a lot more thought into what's going in the story line. I'm just wondering if you had any advice. Thanks so much for your time. I know your super busy.

Yours truly

Murielle

P.S. do you think you'll be coming to Canada do some signings?

Dear Murielle: I wish I could come to Canada! I was raised in Detroit and spent lots of time going back and forth between the two countries. I especially liked Toronto. I'll add Canada to my "places I want to sign books" list!

Re: writing. I usually start with a character and a general idea of the plot. What I've noticed is -- now that I'm working on the second book in the series -- it was much easier to be a pantser when I had a lot of time to let the story unfold. Writing shorter things is easier, too. This time I wish I was a plotter. I think it would have kept me on task better. But I agree with people who say, no matter whether we consciously plot or not, we do have a general idea (although it often feels unconscious) about where the book is going. I think in the future I'll make an effort to get an outline on paper asap: a lifeline to cling to when the creative waters get choppy! Everyone's process is different and you'll find the right one for you.

Thanks again for your sweet support!
