Looks like romance to me...Vampire romance [blood trailing from his mouth], but romance nonetheless.
My 2 cents, anyway!
~ Melissa Mayhue
OMG, YUM! You are getting the BEST covers!!!
Vampire romance - contemporary
Paranormal romance, vampire. Of course, he COULD have just been in a fight, but it smacks of he's the ancient vampire, and she's the human woman. He's pale, has odd eyes and long hair... Yep...ancient vampire it is.
Brenna
Yep, I thought Vampire, and then the title goes with the image.
paranormal vampire romance or perhaps dark fantasy
but whichever, I likey
First, let me say that I absolutely love the cover! The guy is hot (maybe I'm just partial to eye candy...lol).
I would say that based on the cover alone, that the book is a paranormal romance about vampires.
: )
Vamp romance. Probably spicy. Something about the way he's holding her arm makes me think that, but I can't really explain why.
Vampire romance! Looks quite yummy. I would pick it up for sure and read the back blurb.
Definitely paranormal/vampirish. I like it! (Wish I was the woman on the cover, too. hehe)
Definitely vampire--blood around the mouth. And the way she's practically bursting out of her shirt says it will be sexy :-)
Jen
Hot vampire romance.
Definitely vampire!
And it looks like a real sexy read.
I would assume it was a romance, a vampire romance.
Romance first, then I noticed the blood.
Vampire - contemporary. Maybe historical, though, if you don't look too close. LOVE the title!
contemporary vampire romance
This is paranormal romance..oh yeah...my favorite type..I would pick this book up if I saw this cover..in a heartbeat.
I would say a vampire romance book.
I agree with the others that it looks like a sexy vampire book. I would definitely pick it up and check it out.
Teri
A Vampire/Erotica romance.
A really sexy one!
I'd snap that book up in a heartbeat just by the cover! Looks like a "steamy" vampire romance novel as it should :)
I would think paranormal romance with the promise of sex lol. I like the cover but The vampire Shrink cover is still my favorite.
A very sexy vampire or even a werewolf book. Heck, I'd by it just for the cover. GRRR!
Erotic horror. And I wouldn't buy this book based on the cover. The man's eyes are freaky. Combined with the blood, it creeps me out - makes me thing it's a Poppy
Z. Brite story. I know most of the posts are positive, so I feel weird posting something negative. I'm glad I know you and trust your name to mean a good story.
My first thought was vampire too, like many others have said.
My second thought was werewolf.
Carpe Noctem,
Des
Paranormal Vampire Romance, and god would I like to meet a guy with eyes like that for just one night.
I agree! Vampire or Shapeshifter, definitely!
*hugs*
Paige
My first impression was paranormal, vampire book, with the man the vampire. Yes, he looks yummy.
Paranormal romance. She's hot. He's staring off blankly into dead space. He needs some eye focus. :)
A really cheesy romance novel.
Vampire romance--maybe one on the hotter end of the spectrum. I don't think I'd pick it up, though. He looks rather blank, disconnected. It's nowhere near as compelling as the cover of Vampire Shrink.
It doesnt look like he's a vampire, from what I've seen it just looks like he's been in a fight. Im going to buy the book regardless of the cover, but if I didnt know already what it was about, I may not even pick it up. And, the characters' images are reversed; Kismet has dark hair, I believe, and Deveroux has blonde hair---thats decieving for the readers of Vampire Shrink.
Rachel
I immediately thought the guy was hot, and he made my stomach quiver, but then when I looked closer I saw the blood and I thought it must be vampire or something similar. But she looks the way I felt when I saw him. ;)
Hot guy w/ hot girl and blood on his mouth. Vampire Romance? :)
Although the guy is HOT. He is SUPER stiff! Very detached looking. I agree he does look like he's been in a fight. The cover does NOTHING for me but I know the author is good so I'd still buy the book. Honestly when I go to buy a hottie vampire book...I don't want to see a female drapped all over the dude. I just wanna see the dude!!!
Vampire romance.
The model looks a bit like a young John Travolta, though.
I think I'm with the magority on this one. The title and pic looks like a vampire romance with an alpha lead. The image is well done, though there is a helplessness to the heroine that would turn me off from picking it up personally. I prefer strong woman, and her pose has a element of surrender to it.
Erotic horror. At first I thought romance, but the fact that he's not looking at her but rather off into space is unromantic. (Then again, he might be staring at someone who's threatening her, which makes him seem like a protector.) She looks helplessly and painfully enthralled by him.
The crusty blood residue on his chin (and chest? or is that a tattoo?) squicks me big time. It's like he forgot to wipe, or just didn't care enough to clean up for her.
By contrast, I thought The Vampire Shrink cover was incredibly compelling and mysterious.
Amendment: I just saw the bite marks on her neck, so it's clear it's her he's bitten and not his last date. But that just makes him seem sort of arrogant, like he's looking at the viewer going, "Yeah, I bit her. You wanna do something about it, punk?" :-)
Romance....paranormal (vampire) erotic romance would be my guess.
First the disclaimer: I never read romance or paranormal (sorry), so I probably should not even comment on this -- but I can rarely resist opining, when asked (and sometimes when I'm not), even on topics I know nothing about. Please simply dismiss my comment and pay attention to those of fans of the romance and/or vampire genre. But here goes anyway.
I'd peg the book as a bodice ripper with a blank-stare guy who looks as if he could be Jack the Ripper but probably just forgot to wipe his mouth after eating a rare burger and a gal who looks like an old-time, overacting film character (the way Vivian Leigh played Scarlett O'Hara in 'Gone With the Wind' -- or the way silent movie stars depicted emotion). To me, he's not hot (bare-chested with six-pack abs notwithstanding) but just plain creepy, and her expression is that of a star-struck teenager in lust with some celebrity.
Vampire romance. Nice cover art.
CJ Parker
Having not read this genre before, I agree with Claire that it looks like a bad bodice-ripper. Maybe a hint of vampire teeth or blood on her neck would help. But the audience knows what it is and that's what matters.
I have read lots of vampire romance books so I would know without reading the back that it was about vampires. I must also say it is a sexy cover. I like it.
Immediate impression was vampire/paranormal romance.
I read a lot of paranormal books that have romance in them, but I don't read books that are primarily romance with paranormal thrown in, and that's what this cover looks like to me.
If I saw it in a book store, I wouldn't even turn it over to read the back...
Romance. It seemed so obvious to me that I stared at it for a second to see if there was something else I should be picking up and it was only then that I noticed the blood and realized that it was vampire romance. If I had just seen it on a shelf, though, in a general section (not genre), I think that I might have assumed that the blood was a moustache and beard, though. (Great cover, nonetheless!)
I gives off the Dark Paranormal look. Dark and Seductive
